Frequently Asked Questions
What is Rise Walking Club?
Rise Walking Club is a guided walking community for women who want a simple, social, and consistent way to stay active. We lead low-intensity walks along curated neighborhood routes, designed to help people connect, move, and enjoy their neighborhoods.
Who is this for?
Do I need to be "in shape" to join?
How long are the walks?
How fast do you walk?
Where do the walks take place?
We rotate through customized local neighborhood routes. Each route is curated for beauty, safety, and ease.
Who leads the walks?
Every walk is led by a trained instructor who handles pacing, safety, logistics, and group comfort. Their job is to make the experience welcoming, smooth, and enjoyable—so you can simply show up and walk.
What if I'm walking alone for the first time?
You’ll never feel alone for long. Instructors greet you by name, introduce you to others, and help you feel immediately included. Most people join Rise solo—it’s a very friendly environment.
What if I'm feeling anti-social and prefer to listen to headphones?
Totally fine. Some members chat, others prefer quiet walks or to listen to headphones. Our instructors create an easygoing vibe where you can participate at your comfort level.
What happens if it rains or the weather changes?
We’ll notify you ahead of time if a walk is canceled or rescheduled due to weather. Safety always comes first. Light drizzle? Sometimes we still go. Thunderstorms, icy conditions, extreme heat/cold? We’ll adjust.
What should I bring?
Just comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Water is optional (walks aren’t long), but encouraged on warmer days. We handle everything else—including logistics, routes, safety, and pacing.
Is this like a gym class?
Not at all. Rise is an alternative to the gym—no machines, no intensity, no pressure. It’s movement made human, outdoors, and community-focused.
What membership options do you offer?
We offer monthly memberships (1-unlimited walks per week) and class packs (5- or 10-walk passes). Options are designed to fit your schedule, commitment level, and routine.
Can I try a walk before committing?
Yes! We offer a first-walk free option so you can experience Rise before choosing a membership.
What if I can't attend every week?
Totally normal. Our memberships are flexible, and class packs offer even more freedom to come when you can.
Will there be hills or difficult terrain?
No tough terrain—our routes are designed with accessibility and comfort in mind. Mostly flat sidewalks, lake paths, and neighborhood streets.
Can I bring a friend or partner?
Absolutely! You can bring guests with a class-pack pass or invite them to try their first walk for free.
Is this safe?
Yes. Routes are pre-planned, instructors manage crossings and group flow, and walks stay in well-lit, highly walkable areas. Safety is one of our core pillars.
What if I walk slower or faster than others?
Our instructors adjust pacing so no one feels rushed or left behind. The group stays together, and comfort is the priority.
Why walking?
Walking is one of the most accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable forms of movement. It boosts mood, supports joint health, reduces stress, and encourages real connection—all without strain or intimidation.
How do I get started?
Simply join a walk, pick a membership, or claim your first free walk. We’ll take care of the rest.
